Tell us about your business and what you do?
The State College of Florida is the region’s largest and oldest institution of higher education. As the community’s college, SCF has graduated more than 46,000 students in its 60 years and is proud to have a central role in the educational, cultural and workforce development of our service region.
What makes your business stand out?
SCF is a centerpiece of Manatee County for culture, workforce development and higher education. We offer affordable educational opportunities and the certificates, associate degrees and baccalaureate degrees that our community members need to continue their education, gain employment, advance their job skills, or recreate themselves professionally.
Why have you been successful?
In our 60 years, SCF has adapted to the educational needs of Manatee County and will continue to do so. We work very closely with our local businesses, our students, and our university partners to ensure that the education we are providing meets their needs. We strive to make sure that our graduates are highly prepared for the workforce or the demands of continued higher education.
What advice would you give for someone planning to do business in Manatee County today?
Anyone planning to do business in Manatee County should become a partner with SCF. We can develop the workforce a company needs, provide workforce skills to current employees, provide internships to build the workforce of the future, and create a curriculum that allows employees to gain the education and skills necessary to advance within their organization.
Why did you choose to be involved in ‘Together Manatee’?
As the president of SCF, our community’s college, I believe in and care about Manatee County and am deeply committed to its residents. I want to be part of this important initiative designed to help make Manatee County a better place to live, learn, work and play.
